A hostel roommate in Chiang Mai told me my "work till it's done" thing was burning me out, so I tried her 90 minute block thing
I used to just sit at the laptop until the task was finished. Some nights that meant 11pm in a cafe in Nimman, second cold coffee, getting sloppy. She said "you look like you're just staring at the screen, not working" and honestly she was right. She does 90 minutes on, 20 off, hard stop no matter what. I figured it was too rigid for client work. Tried it for two weeks anyway. I get maybe 4 solid blocks in and I'm done by 6. Weird part is my output went up, not down. The 20 minute break is the hard part for me, I always want to keep going. Curious if anyone else has a hard stop time or do you just ride it out until the work is finished?
