Dropped $60 on a SIM card in Canggu that died in 3 days

Bought a local data SIM at a shop near Batu Bolong for 900k rupiah, about $60, and the guy promised it would last me 30 days. It stopped working on day 3, and when I went back the shop was shut with no sign or anything. I ended up hotspotting off my roommate for 2 weeks, which burned through his plan and cost us both more cash. Now I only buy from the official telco counter at the airport, even if it costs a bit more. Has anyone found a legit place in Bali that actually honors the plan they sell you?
