Heard a guy at a cafe in Medellin talking about his 'home base' setup
I was working at a spot in El Poblado last month and the guy at the next table was on a video call. He was explaining to someone that he'd signed a six-month lease on a small apartment in Lisbon, not to live in full-time, but as a permanent address for mail and a guaranteed place to crash between trips. He called it his 'anchor point'. It got me thinking hard about the constant moving. I've been full nomad for almost two years, and the admin stuff like banking and tax stuff is getting messy without a solid address. The idea of having one cheap, stable spot to orbit around, instead of just bouncing forever, feels... smarter maybe? Less like running and more like having a plan. Has anyone else set up a semi-permanent home base like this, and did it actually cut down on the headache?

My buddy in Bangkok rents a room year-round just for his mail and a place to reset between trips. He says it saved his sanity with bank stuff.

Honestly @the_lee, that's genius for tax reasons too. If your buddy ever gets flagged as a resident, having a real lease with his name on it is solid proof of where he lives. It turns a huge headache into a simple piece of paper.

A whole room just for mail, @the_lee?
