I swore I'd never pay for a co-working day pass, then the wifi at my Chiang Mai cafe died mid-call
Three months ago I moved to Chiang Mai and I was so proud of working from tiny cafes for $3 a day in coffee. Last Tuesday my landlord's wifi went down during a client call, so I ran to a cafe on Nimman Road, and their router died 10 minutes into my presentation. I finally paid 350 baht for a day pass at a proper co-working spot near Maya Mall, and the backup internet plus a quiet booth saved the whole call. Now I'm actually thinking about a monthly membership instead of gambling on cafe wifi every morning. For those of you who've done both, how do you decide when a city deserves the co-working budget versus just finding better cafes?
