I thought the whole 'slow travel' thing was just a buzzword until I stayed in Medellin for 8 weeks

I used to bounce to a new city every two weeks, thinking I was seeing more. In my experience, after a month in Medellin, I actually made local friends, got a better apartment rate, and my work output went up by about 30% because I wasn't always packing. What convinced me was finally feeling settled enough to join a weekly Spanish class and a running group. Has anyone else found a specific sweet spot for how long to stay in one place to make it worth it?

Totally agree! The real game changer for me was finding a favorite coffee shop where the barista knew my order.

Yeah, three weeks is a good start, but that's still tourist mode. The real shift happens when you stop counting weeks and start having a regular routine, like your running group. That's when a place actually feels like a temporary home.

Honestly, my sweet spot is just long enough to stop using GPS for the grocery store. That's when you know you're not just visiting. For me, that takes about three weeks of pure, stubborn refusal to ask for directions.
