Lost my internet connection mid-call with a client in a Bali cafe last Tuesday

I was sitting at Canggu's Crate Cafe with my laptop on a Zoom call and the wifi dropped for 15 minutes right when I was closing a $2,500 project, so I had to sprint to the beach to hotspot off my phone while a rooster screamed in the background - has anyone else had a client freak out over connectivity issues in a remote spot?

lol "adds character to the story" is putting it lightly, my buddy had almost the exact same thing happen but at a different spot in Ubud. He was on a call with a client from New York, the power went out not just the wifi, and he ended up screaming the whole contract details into his phone while standing in a rice paddy with cows mooing behind him. Client actually loved it, said it made him memorable compared to the other faceless freelancers they work with. So hey, maybe the rooster is part of your branding now lol.

Actually Crate Cafe isn't really Canggu, it's in the Berawa area... a lot of people mix those up. The wifi there is usually pretty solid for a coffee shop, but honestly the whole Bali internet thing is hit or miss no matter where you are. That sprint to the beach move is a classic remote worker trick though, using the phone hotspot by the water has saved me more than a few times. Your client probably didn't know about the rooster but hey, it adds character to the story.

Adds character to the story" is a generous way to put it, lol. I'd probably be the one apologizing to the rooster for interrupting its big moment. But hey, at least if the call goes bad you've got a funny story instead of just a bad review.
