Paid $200 for a 'productivity mastermind' that was just a guy in his garage
Saw this ad for a digital nomad mastermind that promised remote work hacks and networking. Showed up to a Zoom call and it's some dude in a garage in Ohio reading from a blog he ripped off. Has anyone else fallen for those overpriced online group things?

The real issue here is that these things are basically a tax on people who think networking means paying to be in the same room as someone slightly more successful. That garage guy probably made more from that one call than he would in a month of actual work, and that's the whole business model. Groups like that work best when everyone has something real to trade, like skills or actual experience, not when you're just buying access to a stranger's opinions. Next time, look for free local meetups or even just some Discord servers with active members. You'll get more honest advice from a tired developer at 2am than from anyone charging $200 to read a blog out loud.
