PSA: I picked a 6-month visa for Mexico over a quick 90-day tourist card

I was setting up in Playa del Carmen and had to choose between the standard tourist permit or applying for the temporary resident visa. I went for the resident visa, which cost about $350 and took a full day at the immigration office. It was a hassle upfront, but not having to do a border run every three months has been a huge relief for actually getting work done. Has anyone else gone through the resident visa process in Mexico recently and have tips for the appointment?

Bring every single bank statement they ask for, no exceptions.

My friend learned that lesson hard, @milesbailey.

Watching people try to cut corners on official paperwork always backfires. I see it when folks skip a form for a permit or leave a box blank on a tax document. It creates a month-long delay for what would have been a five-minute task of just providing the full info upfront.
