PSA: The $40 local SIM card in Chiang Mai was a total game changer

I almost stuck with my expensive global plan, but grabbing a local one at the airport gave me full bars everywhere, even up in the mountains. Has anyone found a better deal with a different carrier here?

My phone bill back home is basically a car payment, so $40 felt like a steal. I was the genius who paid for high-speed data to watch a single pixelated cat video on Doi Suthep. Grace89 is onto something with that True deal, I clearly need to do more research and less cat video streaming next time.

That $40 seems steep, I got a True prepaid card for half that last month.

Global plans are a safety net. You never know when you'll need to call your bank back home or get a ride in a pinch. That peace of mind is worth a few extra bucks.
