Spent 6 months working from hostels before learning they had private rooms

I was booking dorm beds all across Southeast Asia thinking I was saving money, but I never calculated how much I spent on coffee shops just to get some quiet work time. After $800 on lattes in Chiang Mai alone, a girl at reception finally asked why I never booked a private pod for $4 more.

Wait, $800 on coffee over a year or like all at once? @grantw32 that reminds me of the time my buddy spent $600 on fancy ice cream in three months and called it "essential tasting notes research.

My dad does the same thing with energy drinks, spends like $50 a week on Monster and then acts shocked when his budget is tight at the end of the month... it's wild how we just tune out the small stuff until it adds up.
