Warning: My backup power plan kept me working through a blackout
I was staying in a small town in Portugal when the whole area lost power for hours (right in the middle of my work day, of course). I used to just rely on cafe outlets, but this time I was glad I packed a portable battery pack for my laptop. It's not huge, but it gave me an extra three hours of juice to finish my tasks. I also learned to save my work locally more often, so I didn't need the cloud to access files. That little battery meant I could email clients and wrap up without freaking out. Now I always check my gear charge before settling in to work somewhere new. It's a small thing that makes a big difference when you're moving around. Other nomads might want to think about their own power backup tricks too.

Basically it's the same story with anything practical. People will ignore a simple fix for years, like a spare tire or a phone charger, until the one day it ruins everything. Then that ten dollar item becomes priceless. Happens with tools, first aid kits, everything.

Ever thought about a backup light source too? A headlamp lets you type without straining your eyes in the dark. It's a small add-on that makes a big difference.
