Went from a crammed hostel bunk in Lisbon to a quiet Airbnb studio in Porto over 6 months and wow, the difference a private bathroom makes for actually getting work done.
I spent 4 months sharing a bathroom with 12 people in Lisbon where I'd time my showers around the morning rush (you know, the chaos), then moved to Porto and got a studio with my own little bathroom and suddenly my productivity jumped like 40% because I wasn't constantly stressed about waiting or cleaning up after strangers, has anyone else noticed how much your living setup messes with your focus?

Shared bathroom life is a whole different beast when it comes to focus. The constant mental load of planning around other people's schedules just eats up energy you could be using for work. Having your own space means you can shower at 2 AM if you want and not have to worry about someone's wet towel on the doorknob or dirty dishes in the sink. It's wild how something as simple as a private bathroom makes you feel like you can actually breathe and settle in to get stuff done.

Oh man, absolutely this! I went through something similar with a shared kitchen in Barcelona and had no idea how much it was eating into my day until I got my own tiny fridge and stove. @lily70 nailed it with the mental load thing, I never realized how much brain space I was wasting on "when should I shower" logistics until I didn't have to anymore. Simple stuff like a private bathroom really does let you actually focus on the work instead of the living.
