Wifi in Chiang Mai took me 3 weeks to sort out

I moved into a condo here last month and the wifi was advertised as 'high speed fiber'. First week, speed tests showed 5mbps on a good day. I called the provider 4 times and they kept saying it was my router. I bought a new one for $60 and that didn't help at all. Turned out the building's wiring was old and the port in my wall was fried. The tech fixed it in 10 minutes after I finally insisted on a house visit. Has anyone else dealt with apartment internet that the landlord swore was fine but was totally trash from day one?

Damn, that's so frustrating, sorry you had to go through all that just to get basic internet working. Glad you finally got it sorted though, sounds like the landlord totally dropped the ball on that one.

Read somewhere that the FCC counts broadband as a basic utility now, like water or electricity. Landlords still act like it's a luxury add-on. You shouldn't have to fight for weeks just to get the modem hooked up. Sounds like you handled it way better than most people would.
