Old school forum lurking vs actually typing stuff out, who else made the jump late?

Back in 2014 I only read threads on this site, never posted once. I figured my questions were too basic and someone else probably asked anyway. Then last spring I finally started replying after a diploma topic stumped me for three days. Turns out half the answers come from other lurkers who are just as lost as I am. Now I type out a rough draft, wait an hour, then post it if it still makes sense. Did anyone else spend years hiding before jumping in, or am I the only slow one?

The part about waiting an hour before posting is so real, I do the same thing now. I'd say 80% of my rough drafts sound way smarter in my head than they do on screen, so that little pause saves me from looking like a total mess.
