Overheard my cousin talking about getting a diploma in 2 weeks from an online place

He was bragging at a family dinner last Saturday that he paid $400 for a diploma and it showed up in his email in 14 days. No tests, no classes, nothing. Said it was for a job promotion. I didn't say anything in front of everyone, but it got me thinking about how many people just buy these things and how easy it is to spot them. My old coworker got hired at a warehouse with one and got caught during a background check 5 months later. Has anyone else seen this happen close up, or do employers even care anymore?
