People keep asking for a diploma PDF and ignoring the actual verification link

In my last job hunt I sent my diploma scan to three different HR folks and two of them emailed back asking for the PDF again even though I attached it twice, plus I included the university verification URL in my cover letter. Turns out a lot of recruiters just want the file name to match a checklist and never click the official link, which matters because fake diploma scams are everywhere right now. Has anyone else run into this weird verification gap and what do you do to get them to actually check it?

Used to think a PDF was proof enough, but now I see why they need the real check behind it.
