The 1977 diploma I found at an estate sale in Wichita had me googling for an hour

I mean, I knew old diplomas were a thing, but this one from a Wichita high school had a calligraphy class listed as a graduation requirement. That just blew my mind, kids today would lose it if they had to take penmanship for a full year. I found it in a $3 box of school papers, and the signature of the principal, dude named Harold B. Keene, led me down a rabbit hole about how schools used to run. Has anyone else run across weird old requirements on vintage diplomas or report cards?
