I finally understood why my neighbor always preps his paint area for an hour
He said, 'The job is 80% prep, 20% paint,' after watching me rush to start on my garage door. Has anyone else had a simple tip completely change your approach to a basic task?

Totally get this with sharpening knives. Used to just hack away with a dull blade until a friend showed me the 10 second test on a tomato. Now I spend five minutes getting a real edge before I even start chopping. That little bit of prep makes the whole job feel effortless and the results are way better. Changed how I handle every kitchen task now.

Man, that tomato test is a game changer, right? I used to fight with dull knives all the time, putting so much force into cutting a pepper that I'd nearly crush it. Now that I keep them sharp, it's like the food just falls apart under the blade. Slicing an onion used to make me cry twice, once from the fumes and once from the struggle. A quick sharpen turns it into one smooth motion. It really does make everything in the kitchen feel more calm.

Saw a video where @the_max said sharp knives are safer.
