I was reading an old plumbing code book from the 1980s and found out the standard water pressure for a house used to be set at 80 psi, not the 50-60 psi we use now.

80 psi would blow the fittings right off my sink. No wonder they changed it.

Yeah, "blow the fittings right off" really paints a picture! I never really thought about it like that before, but you're totally right, @vera514. Makes perfect sense why they'd lower the pressure.
