I was sure my kitchen tile needed a full tear-out until I tried a grout refresh kit

My kitchen floor had these old, stained grout lines that looked awful. I bought a $25 grout paint kit from the hardware store, thinking it was a waste of time. I cleaned the lines with a stiff brush, then applied the paint with the tiny brush they gave me. The result was a clean, bright floor that looks brand new, and it only took me about 4 hours total. Has anyone else had a small fix work way better than they thought it would?

Remember that grout paint isn't a sealant. It just covers the color, so you still need to seal those lines to protect them from new stains. It's a great quick fix, but skipping the sealant is how you end up back where you started.

Wait, you have to seal it after painting? I always thought the paint did both jobs, but that makes total sense if it's just a color layer. You just saved my bathroom tiles from a future mess!

Yeah, "saved my bathroom tiles from a future mess" is such a good catch. It's like we expect one product to do everything now, but most things need that extra step to actually last. You see it with seasoning a cast iron pan or putting a case on a phone, the real protection is separate.
