Painted my bathroom ceiling flat white instead of semi-gloss like I always do and the difference is honestly kind of blowing my mind

Stick with the flat for ceilings, it hides imperfections way better. The semi-gloss you usually use was probably highlighting every little bump and texture. Flat paint soaks up the light instead of bouncing it around, which makes the whole room feel softer.

Learned this the hard way painting my old place. Used a satin on the ceiling once and it looked like a topographical map of the moon. Switched to a basic flat white and it was like magic, all those little flaws just disappeared. The room instantly felt calmer and bigger too. Flat is definitely the only way to go overhead.

My bathroom ceiling looked like a crime scene under semi-gloss. Flat white is basically a magic eraser for bad drywall.
