Painted my kitchen cabinets without sanding first. Big regret.

Did it last weekend cause I was impatient and thought the liquid deglosser would work just as good. Paint started peeling off in like 3 days around the handles. Anyone else tried to skip sanding and paid for it?

...six months with no issues?? man I don't believe that for a second. I did the exact same thing - bonding primer, cabinet enamel, deglosser left on for the full 20 minutes - and it still peeled around the knobs in like two weeks. Maybe your kitchen is just less humid than mine or something cause I genuinely scrubbed those handles clean before painting and it still didn't hold. I'd be checking that paint every single day if I were you cause I bet it starts bubbling up eventually.

Actually my kitchen cabinets have been fine for 6 months now after I skipped sanding. I used a bonding primer that was like $12 from Home Depot and wiped everything down with TSP substitute first. The trick is you gotta use the right kind of paint too, not just any cheap stuff. I went with a cabinet specific enamel that claims it adheres to slick surfaces. Maybe you used the wrong primer or paint. Or maybe you didn't let the deglosser sit long enough before painting. These products have specific dry times for a reason.
