Pro tip I got from a retired carpenter at the lumber yard

Guy named Mike at the Home Depot in Burlington told me to stop using those cheap plastic shims for leveling cabinets. He showed me how to cut tapered wedges from scrap cedar instead, and after 6 months I can say my upper cabinets still sit perfectly true. Anybody else ditch the plastic shims for something better?

Read somewhere that cedar's naturally rot resistant too, which is a bonus for sure.

Heard a guy in a crew once say cedar shims are like therapy for crooked walls @daniel_martin

Grab a block plane and make your own from any leftover hardwood scraps.
