Rant: Fancy paint sprayer made my trim look worse than a $5 brush

I spent $340 on a sprayer for my hallway trim in Denver and after 2 weekends of overspray and cleanup, it looked streaky and blotchy. Then I just used a cheap angled brush with a wet rag to wipe drips as I went, and it came out smooth in half the time. Anyone else ditch the expensive gear and go back to basic tools for trim work?
