Spent $85 on a cheap tile cutter, now my bathroom floor is a mess

I bought a budget tile cutter from a big box store to do a 60 square foot bathroom in Tulsa, and it chipped every single porcelain tile I tried to cut. The thing just couldn't handle the hardness, so I ended up renting a wet saw for $45 and redoing most of the floor over a weekend. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap scoring cutters, or is it always worth just renting the good stuff?

Oh man, that sounds like a brutal weekend. So did you actually try the wet saw on the same porcelain, or was the scoring cutter the only thing that failed you? I'm just wondering if the tile itself was extra hard or if the cheap tool was the whole problem.

That 600 grit diamond blade on my wet saw finally chewed through it, so yeah, the tile was definitely the tough part.
