TIL you can fix a wobbly ceiling fan without buying a whole new one

Last weekend I had a ceiling fan in my guest room shaking like crazy. Found out a $3 balancing kit from the hardware store fixed it in 20 minutes - just clip the weights to the blades until it stops wobbling. Has anyone else tried this or did you just replace the whole fan?

I saw what @patricia558 said about the light bulb, but I think the balancing kit is the more reliable fix. I tried moving bulbs around once and it still wobbled, so the weights really do the trick better.

Check the light bulb too, had one throw my fan off balance once.

Yeah, "light bulb" got me too, same thing happened with a wobbly fan in my living room.
