Tried fixing a squeaky floorboard and created a trapdoor instead

Last Tuesday I was in my kitchen trying to silence this one annoying board near the fridge, so I pulled out my drill and went to town on some screws from below. Turns out I hit the subfloor at a weird angle and the whole 2x2 section popped loose like a hidden basement hatch. Has anyone else accidentally made their house more interesting while trying to fix a basic problem?

@susan649 a 1800s skeleton key sounds way cooler than the dead mouse my trapdoor revealed under the fridge.

Then my friend Patricia tried fixing a loose stair tread in her old farmhouse and ended up pulling the whole thing off, revealing a little hollow space where someone had stashed a set of skeleton keys from the 1800s. She spent the next three weekends pulling up every stair in the house looking for more hidden treasures, but all she found was a dead mouse and some old dust. House repairs sure have a way of turning into something you never planned on.
