Snagged a set of 4 ceramic bowls for a buck each last week
I was at the Dollar Tree near my apartment and found these solid colored ceramic mixing bowls that actually feel sturdy. They survived my first chili batch and dishwasher run no problem. Has anyone else found surprisingly durable kitchen stuff there?

Bought a set of glass prep bowls there last year and they're still going strong. The key is to hand wash the ones with printed designs, but the plain ceramic stuff usually holds up fine. Just don't drop them on tile floors, that's the only time I've seen one crack.

Oh man, is that really true about the printed designs? I had NO idea that was a thing. I ALWAYS toss EVERYTHING in the dishwasher, even my fancy painted mugs. Now I'm worried I've been slowly destroying them this whole time. I really appreciate you sharing that tip, seriously, because I would have never thought to check. I've definitely had my share of kitchenware mishaps over the years, and it's always a bummer when something breaks. At least it's good to know the plain ceramic stuff is tough.
