That Dollar Store hair conditioner ruined my permed curls

I spent $1.25 on a bottle of "moisturizing" conditioner at Dollar General last Tuesday. My daughter told me I was crazy for trying it, but I figured it was worth the risk. After one wash, my perm went completely flat and my hair felt like straw. I had to spend $15 on a deep conditioning treatment from Target just to fix the damage. I know a lot of people swear by dollar store beauty products, but this one burned me bad. Has anyone else had a similar experience with hair products from discount shops?

I grabbed that same bottle off the shelf last week and my curls turned into a frizzy mess by noon. It stripped every bit of life out of my hair and left that weird waxy buildup too. I had to wash it three times with my regular shampoo just to get the gunk out. My perm still hasn't bounced back and I'm dodging mirrors now. Learned my lesson on that one. You ever find a good fix for the damage afterward?

Did you try a deep conditioning mask with protein in it, or did you go straight to an oil treatment first?
