Walked into Dollar Tree in Tucson and saw glass mixing bowls for $1.25
I picked up two of those glass mixing bowls from Dollar Tree in Tucson and used them for melting chocolate in my double boiler setup. Over three batches of cookies, they held up better than a $10 set I got from the grocery store last year. Has anyone else noticed these bowls not cracking or breaking under heat?

Oh man that sucks about your pie crust. But were your bowls the same shape as mine? I grabbed the ones with the pouring spout on the side. Maybe the straight sided ones are made different. Just wondering if the design matters or if it's all the same cheap glass.

Ngl you got lucky with those bowls but I wouldn't push it. Dollar Tree glass is basically made from recycled soda bottles and sand they found in the parking lot. I grabbed a set of those same mixing bowls for a pie crust and the thing shattered when I poured in hot butter. One minute I'm making dough, next minute I'm sweeping glass out of my kitchen floor. Those bowls are meant for holding cold leftovers not doubling as cookware. You might have gotten a good batch but the quality control at that price point is a total gamble.
