That convo with my neighbor about his piles of scrap wood really got me thinking
I was at my neighbor Dave's place last week helping him move some old furniture and he's got this huge stack of cutoffs and random 2x4s in his garage. I asked why he keeps it all and he said 'deadlines come up and you never have the right piece when you need it.' He told me about three different projects where he finished just in time because he had that scrap ready to go. Now I'm second guessing how much junk I toss from my own work - you guys hoard scraps too or am I just being dumb about it?

Keep a scrap pile so big you have to walk sideways through your own garage.
