Warning: late-stage edits can wreck a whole color scheme

I turned in a branding deck for a client in Austin last month at 11:47 PM, and the final file had a mistake I didn't see until the morning. The client asked for one tiny hex change on the accent color, so I did a find-and-replace in the design file. That single swap changed the shade on 14 pages, and three of them looked like a completely different palette. Took me 2 hours to manually undo it while the revision deadline was 9 AM. Has anyone else had a one-word or one-value edit nuke an entire project at the last minute, or am I the only one dumb enough to trust find-and-replace?

Duplicate the whole file before touching anything, then rename the original as a backup. That way a bad replace is just a version rollback, not a two-hour panic session. Every time I skip that step, I regret it within the hour.
