Why everyone loves the 24 hour crunch, I started hating it after my neighbor's take
My neighbor Dave caught me at 2am last Tuesday rebuilding a client's entire landing page for the 5th time. He just laughed and said 'you're not racing the clock, you're avoiding starting.' That hit weird because he's right. I used to thrive on that panic rush, felt like a hero pulling it off. But now I notice I spend 6 hours tweaking fonts and colors before the real work even begins. It's not the deadline that makes me good, it's the fear. Has anyone else figured out how to get that focus without waiting until the last minute? I'm genuinely asking, because Dave's comment made me feel kinda stupid about my whole process.

Ever tried just setting a timer for 15 minutes and telling yourself you're only allowed to delete stuff, not create? I did that once with a project that was kicking my butt, and I ended up deleting my entire design and starting over from scratch in that time. It was weird, but it broke the loop. The font thing though, that's real. I've wasted whole evenings picking between two grays that looked identical on any screen. Dave might be onto something about the avoiding part, but for me the trick was making the starting so small and dumb it felt stupid not to do it.

The "making the starting so small and dumb it felt stupid not to do it" part, that hit home for me, @michael_coleman10. I had the same issue with a bathroom remodel I kept putting off, and finally I just told myself I'd only measure the wall, nothing else. Ten minutes later I was tearing out the old tile, and it was actually the easiest part once I stopped overthinking the whole layout. That timer trick sounds brutal but kind of genius, if I had to delete instead of create I'd probably rage quit, but maybe that's the point.
