A client in Denver had me redraw a whole set of plans because their old survey was off by 2.5 feet.
Now I always double-check the surveyor's benchmark against a known city monument before I even open CAD, has anyone else started doing this after a similar mess?

Honestly, that sounds like overkill to me. I just trust the surveyor's work because that's their whole job. Adding extra checks like that just eats up too much time.

My last survey in Phoenix was off by a foot, so now I always verify the benchmark first.

That's just smart practice honestly. A quick check can save you from a huge headache later. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather spend five minutes now than redo everything.
