I once drafted a whole building section with the wrong pen, and it looked like modern art

Have you ever stared at one of your own mess ups long enough that it starts to look smart. I did that with a foundation detail I totally botched. Spent ten minutes trying to convince myself the weird cross hatch shading was a bold choice, not a spill. My buddy walked by and asked if I was trying to draw a basket. That was the end of my modern art career.

That bit about it looking like modern art really gets me. I used to see a drafting mistake as just a ruined sheet, something to toss. Now I see those unintended lines as a kind of happy accident. It's like the wrong pen showed you a different way to see the shapes. Makes me want to keep some of my mess ups instead of trashing them right away.

During a late night drafting session, I made a huge smudge right on the center fold. I decided to work around it by turning the smudge into a shadow effect for the main structure. @patricia558, your approach of keeping mess ups is something I've found useful for seeing new possibilities.
