Overheard a guy at the supply house say his plotter was 'jealous' of his coworker's printer

I was picking up some bond paper rolls last Tuesday and this older drafter was dead serious telling his buddy that his HP DesignJet gets 'moody' when he uses the office Canon for quick plots. He claimed it started feeding paper crooked on purpose after he ran a test print on the Canon first. Has anyone else's equipment ever seemed to act up for weird reasons like that?

Machines don't have feelings, they just break down when they're about to break down. That guy was probably just looking for an excuse to avoid the Canon.

My uncle's an old diesel mechanic and he'd agree with you completely. Machines either work or they don't, no in-between drama.

Heard some mechanic on a podcast say machines actually give subtle signs before failing, like weird vibrations or sounds that most people miss. Could be the guy picked up on something off with the Canon and trusted his gut. Not saying he's right, but it's not always just making excuses.
