Ran into a retired drafter at a hardware store in Phoenix who told me to stop using 3D for everything.

He said a clean 2D detail sheet still beats a messy model for getting a point across on site. Anyone else get pushback on going fully digital?

Oh man, that's a classic hardware store encounter. I bet he also said we should go back to vellum and lead holders. He's not totally wrong though, a cluttered 3D view is useless if the guy with the hammer can't find the dimension he needs.

Wait, vellum and lead holders? That's next level old school lol. I had a contractor last week who still uses a paper day planner and gets mad when my digital estimate takes more than three minutes to load. Like buddy, I'm trying to save you from your own handwriting here. Some of these guys would rather fight with faded blueprints than just zoom in on a tablet.

Get the guy with the hammer. That's the whole point. If he can't read it, your fancy drawing is just art. Tech should make the work easier, not give you a new job of explaining your own plans. Some old ways are stubborn for a reason, they just work on site. But fighting a faded print is a waste of everyone's time.
