That guy at the print shop told me to flip my layers and I ignored him
I was laying out a complex floor plan in AutoCAD last month and struggling with overlapping lines. This old timer named Jerry from the print shop said I should flip my layer order and freeze the ones I wasn't using. I thought nah, I got this, and spent 3 hours manually trimming every intersection. Finally tried his method on a hunch and finished the rest of the job in 45 minutes. Made me feel like an idiot but he was dead right. Anyone else had a simple tip from a random shop guy save your whole day?

Nodded along like I knew what I was doing for two days straight before a shop guy took pity on me and showed me the same trick. Felt like that meme where the girl is trying to do math but the answer is right there the whole time. Now I listen to anyone with grease on their hands before I waste another afternoon.

Read something the other day where a mechanic said most DIY project failures come from skipping the first step everyone thinks is obvious. That hit home because Ive definitely been that person who dives in confident and then makes everything worse. Its wild how a little guidance upfront can save you from a full weekend of cursing at something that was simple all along. Did the shop guy at least let you buy him a beer after saving your project?
