TIL my layer settings were the reason for slow CAD redraws

For 6 years I kept all my dims on layer 0, just overriding colors per object. Switched to proper layer assignments after a 300-sheet set in Columbus started lagging hard. Anyone else deal with bloat from lazy layer habits, or is it just me?

Honestly, I see it the other way. We ran a 400-sheet set last year and layer 0 with per-object overrides never caused a single slowdown, so I think the lag was more about file size or hardware than the layers themselves.
