Tried a new 0.3mm lead for my architectural details and it snapped constantly. Switched back to 0.5mm and the drawing was cleaner anyway.

Try rotating the pencil more often as you draw. I mean, the 0.3 leads are brittle and any small pressure change can snap them. Honestly, I've found 0.5 just works better for most line weights anyway.

Yeah the 0.3 leads are just too fragile. I went through a whole pack in one sitting once, snapping them constantly. Totally switched to 0.5 and never looked back.

The real trick with 0.3mm is a much lighter touch than you'd use for 0.5mm. It's not just about rotating the pencil. You have to barely let the lead touch the paper, almost like you're sketching with the weight of the pencil itself. A lot of people press down out of habit from using thicker leads. Once you get that feather-light pressure, a single 0.3mm lead can last for ages.
