Why does nobody talk about those cheap drafting scales on Amazon...

I picked up a set of three plastic drafting scales for like $12 on Amazon just as backups. Was dead sure they'd warp or the markings would rub off after a week. Six months later and I'm reaching for them over my $40 aluminum ones because they're lighter and actually more accurate. Has anyone else found a surprisingly good budget tool that changed your mind?

Are the markings actually holding up to repeated use or have they started fading after a few months? I've been burned by cheap rulers where the numbers wore off within a couple weeks of daily use, so I'm curious if these are different. The lightness thing makes sense though, my aluminum scales get heavy after holding them for long periods lol.

Honestly @barbarah19, mine still look brand new after daily use for six months.

Could you tell me if the markings are actually laser etched or just printed on? I've had rulers that looked great until I actually tried to use them on a real project, lol.
