Had to pick between a new pump for the cutterhead or a full ladder rebuild on the old Erie dredge. Went with the pump, but now the ladder's groaning like a ghost.

My buddy's ladder finally gave out last winter, sounded like a train wreck.

Man, that groan is a bad sign. It means the wear is way past the bushings. We ran ours like that until a pin sheared and dropped a whole section. Get some heavy plate and weld a saddle under the worst joint, just to get you through. It won't fix it, but it'll keep it from falling in the cut.
