Floated a ceiling joint wrong and it cost me 2 hours to fix
I was working an old 1920s house in Portland and tried to pre-fill a butt joint with too much mud, ended up with a massive blister that took forever to sand flat. Anyone else ever rush a ceiling tape job and regret it?

Blame the house, not your technique. Those old Portland ceilings are never flat anyway, a little extra mud just fills the gaps faster if you spread it right. Took me ten minutes to float a joint in a 1920s bungalow last week and it came out perfect with zero sanding... you probably just used too much water in your mix.

Ngl, nobody's talking about how old Portland ceilings might have lead paint under that plaster.

My renovation book says lead paint bans started in 1978 in the US.
