Hit 1000 sheets of 5/8 rock in one job and my arms still hurt

We were working this commercial build in Raleigh and I somehow ended up hanging every single sheet of fire code board myself. By the time we hit sheet number 600 I lost count but the guys kept a tally on the trailer wall. Nobody told me it would be that many until the end when the foreman handed me a bonus. Has anyone else gotten caught off guard by the sheer volume of sheets on a big job?

Did your foreman at least buy you a steak dinner for that load of work? I did a hotel once where I lost feeling in my thumbs for a week after hanging the whole lobby's worth of 5/8 board by myself. Next time I am hiding in the dumpster when they start passing out assignments.

Honestly that thumb thing is no joke. Did you ever get that checked out or did it just come back on its own? Ngl I've seen guys lose feeling in their hands for months after hanging heavy board like that, and they just shrug it off like it's part of the job. Tbh that kind of stuff catches up with you later when you're older and can't even grip a coffee cup.

Right? I did a basement once where my arms were noodles for three days after carrying 4x8 sheets up stairs by myself. Nothing like free labor and a half-eaten gas station sandwich at the end of the day.
