Hot take: I used to think premixed bucket mud was a waste of money. Now I won't go back.

For the first five years of my side work I only ever mixed my own from the bags. Joint compound powder, water, drill mixer, the whole messy routine. I told myself it was cheaper and that I had more control over the consistency. But after a 12-hour night shift I showed up to a bedroom in Omaha and forgot my mixer. Had to borrow a bucket of premix from a buddy on site. It saved me an hour of setup and cleanup on a small job that paid $400. Now I keep a couple buckets in my truck for finish coats and small patches. Anyone else switch over and feel like they were being stubborn for no reason?

Nah, I still mix my own. Cheaper and I trust it more.

My 2012 Subaru finally died after 180k miles on store brand oil so I'm not buying the hype.

My dad still uses recycled oil from the restaurant on his old F-150.
