Unpopular opinion: the all-metal T-square is overrated for hanging board

After 3 years using a heavy steel T-square on a remodel job in Denver last month, I switched back to a lightweight aluminum one and my shoulder stopped hurting - has anyone else ditched the heavy stuff for a simpler tool that actually works better?

Switched to a 48 inch aluminum speed square for hanging board and never looked back. The heavy steel one just wore me down by the end of the day. Lighter tools got the same job done with way less fatigue.

@murray.drew nailed it with that speed square switch. I did the same thing a few years back after a full day of hanging board on a ceiling left my wrist barking for a week. That all-metal T-square just gets heavy fast, especially when you're reaching up all day. The aluminum one glides way smoother on the paper too, no complaints.

Ngl, lightweight tools are underrated until your body starts complaining. Aluminum speed squares save your wrist way more than people give them credit for. Once you go lighter, you never really want to go back.
