Warning: my first time using 20-minute mud was a disaster
I tried quick-set compound on a ceiling patch last week in Austin and it started setting before I even got it on the knife. I had to scrape it all off and start over with regular mud. Has anybody else had trouble with the fast stuff?

I read that rapid-set has a way shorter working time in high humidity, so in Austin's heat you're probably fighting the clock even harder. @anthony_campbell88's buddy tossing the whole trowel sounds about right, I've seen guys scrap off half-dry mud into the trash too.

The stuff is no joke, man. Had a buddy use it for patchwork on his popcorn ceiling and ended up with a hardened glob the size of a softball on his trowel. He just tossed the whole thing in the trash and went back to all-purpose.
