Wasted $80 on a fancy drywall lifter, went back to my old method in a week

Bought one of those hydraulic lifters from Home Depot last month hoping it would save my back on ceiling work. Thing was slow to set up, kept drifting down, and I actually got more done just using my old two-by-four T-brace method. Anyone else found those lifters more trouble than they are worth?

Saw a YouTube video last week where a contractor said the same thing. He broke it down and figured he wasted close to 300 bucks on specialty tools that ended up collecting dust. It is amazing how fast we fall for the hype of a new gadget.

Gotta agree lol. Seems like every time I try to upgrade some simple tool it just ends up sitting in the garage. Kinda feels like half the stuff marketed to us these days is just solving problems that weren't really there to begin with.

Oh man, I just read something the other day about how the average American household has like 20+ tools they've used once or never. It's wild when you stop and think about all the money we just throw at stuff like that. Like we're all just buying into this idea that we need some fancy gadget when a basic version would do the trick.
