Hit 100 different species from my backyard this morning
I started keeping a list back in 2019 just for fun. This morning I spotted a clay-colored sparrow and it put me at exactly 100 species seen from my porch. Never thought I'd get that many without leaving the yard. The feeder and a little water dish really bring them in. Makes me wonder how many I missed over the years before I started paying attention. Anyone else keep a running count from their house?

Is it too late to start counting and just pretend I've seen a hundred by including the pigeons on my roof?

My neighbor's feral cat population alone got me to 37 birds last year because they keep catching sparrows and leaving them on my porch. I say go for it with the pigeons, that's basically free bird watching right outside your window. I counted a whole flock of starlings that landed on my car once and called it a major life list day. Honestly, birding is about what makes YOU happy, not what some stuffy rules say. Pigeons count, roof counts, you're golden.

You're counting pigeons on a roof as birds you've seen? That's a bold strategy, I'll give you that.
