My neighbor said my finch photos were all 'too far away' - ouch

She was blunt about it, said they looked like blurry dots, so I finally moved my chair right next to the window last Tuesday. Got a close-up of a goldfinch mid-sneeze that actually has detail now. Anyone else get called out on their bird pics?

Wait @christopher943, you sure that was a house finch and not a purple finch popping by your slider? Those two get mixed up all the time, and purple finches have that heavier bill and rosier look on the head that's easy to miss from a dirty window. Either way, good tip on the feeder setup, I learned that lesson the hard way too after a whole morning of shots came out looking like I shot em through a foggy lens.

That goldfinch sneeze shot sounds like a win, but I gotta say something about the chair placement. I set up right against my glass slider last fall and got some close ups of a house finch that looked great on the camera screen. Problem was, the glass was slightly dirty and it made the whole image look hazy once I pulled it up on my computer. I ended up buying a little suction cup window feeder from Home Depot for like 15 bucks and now I can sit two feet back and still get clear shots without any glass glare. Just something to watch out for with that window method.
